Chatham students grade 1 and up are invited to join Cirkus After School to learn jugging and stilt skills, conditioning and games.
Spring 2022 Cirkus
Wednesdays, March 2 through April 27
3:00-4:00pm for beginners
4:00-5:00pm for intermediate/experienced circus learners
SKILLS WE LEARN
Juggling with balls, clubs, rings, scarves, and odd objects, diabolo, stilts, unicycle, clowning and physical comedy. Side effects may include: better communication skills, growing self-esteem, increased fitness and coordination, longer periods of focused activity.
Strict COVID-19 safety protocols and social-distancing guidelines will be in place.
- Props will be sanitized before and after use.
- Bindlestiff staff will include 3 lead adult instructors.
- Class size is limited to 10 youth participants to observe building occupancy protocol.
Class includes circle time for a check in, a discussion of one of our Values or a positive character attribute, a warm-up, guided skill exploration and development, games, and a closing circle centered on self-reflection and self-assessment. Cirkus After School instructors are a diverse group of professionals who bring training in youth development, circus skills, and social-emotional learning into our approach.
We use skills like juggling, stilt walking, tumbling, partner acrobatics, prop manipulation and physical comedy to help youth to become stronger learners, community members, and leaders by encouraging them to express themselves creatively, challenge themselves physically, and work inventively with others.
