Bindlestiff’s Cirkus After School uses skills like juggling, stilt walking, tumbling, partner acrobatics, prop manipulation and physical comedy to help youth to become stronger learners, community members, and leaders by encouraging them to express themselves creatively, challenge themselves physically, and work inventively with others. Our projected outcomes are aligned with Social Circus theory, as recognized by the American Youth Circus Organization, which proposes application of instructional and cooperative techniques from the world of circus arts to help accelerate desired outcomes in youth development, therapeutic or community development settings. Intro to Aerial Arts -teens and adults
Explore the conditioning and technique basic to all aerial apparatus- utilizing core strength builders and upper body strengthening moves, we’ll also incorporate the vocabulary of movement for static (non-flying) trapeze and Lyra.
Classes are 90 minutes, including stretching and warm-up, conditioning, and time in the air. Suitable for ages 12 and up; no previous circus experience required. A basic level of mobility and fitness will be helpful. We build strength, flexibility, and balance on and below the trapeze bar and in the ropes of the apparatus. Ankle-length, fitted leggings (under shorts for males) and fitted tops covering the torso fully are required.
