Morris Memorial Basketball Program

Recreational Basketball

The Morris Memorial Recreational Basketball program is for girls and boys in grades 1-8 who reside in the Chatham Central School District and the surrounding townships.  This non-sectarian program,  formerly known as the St. James CYO Program, uses basketball as a vehicle for enhancing players’ positive social skills and self esteem.   Youth will learn basic basketball skills with a strong focus on sportsmanship and team spirit. Volunteer coaches will lead skill-building drills during the first half of the hour and then the youth will scrimmage other teams during the second half of the hour.  Scores are not kept and all players receive equal playing time, regardless of skill.  All teams are co-ed with 1st and 2nd graders playing on Sunday afternoons at the Morris Memorial while 3rd-8th graders play on Saturday mornings at the Chatham Middle School.  The  3rd-8th grade teams practice one evening a week.

Registration fee is $45.00 for the first player from each family and $30.00 for each additional player.  Placement on a team will only be guaranteed to those youth who register onine by November 27th.  there will be a $15.00 late fee added to registrations after the 11/27 deadline.  Scholarships are available by calling the Morris office or emailing Michele @ morrism@fairpoint.net.  All children receive a T-shirt.  Coaches will call players regarding team assignments and practices.
