Free After School Program

All Chatham students ages six and older are invited to participate in our Free After School Program, school days October-May 2:00-6:00pm.

What is the MMA After School Program?

The Morris operates a recreation center located at 21 Park Row in the Village of Chatham for the majority of the school year for all Chatham area students ages 6 and older and IT’S FREE! Our organization opens its doors to our community’s children each day after school until 6:00pm. This program is unique to our community and has existed for decades.

What happens at the MMA After School Program?

Our facility offers a safe and supervised space for children to socialize, learn, and have fun. Students have options to participate in a wide range of activities including athletics and team games in our gymnasium, arts and crafts, homework help, Wii gaming system, running on our second story suspended track and games including pool, ping-pong, air hockey, and shuffleboard in our game room. Activity can either be student- or staff led and varies day to day.

Upon arrival, all students are required to sign in at the front counter. When students leave our facility, they are required to sign out. Parent’s dictate requirements as to when their child is allowed to sign out of our facility. Ex: Older students may have parent permission to sign out to go purchase lunch in town. Vs. Younger students may be required to leave only with a parent or approved guardian.

We also partner with a variety of other organizations to provide additional programming which operates during after school hours. Examples include free weekly circus classes taught by the Bindlestiff Family Circus, fit and fun activities led by prevention educators from Catholic Charities and classes provided by the Cornell Cooperative Extension.

How do students get to the Morris?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide after school transportation to our facility. Students can walk using sidewalks leading into the village from school, or can be dropped off.

How can I sign up?

Easy! Each participant must register by completing the Morris Contract, a form that includes a behavior agreement, parent/guardian contact information, hold harmless agreement, photo waivers, and other pertinent information. Download the one provided here or complete a hard copy provided on site.

COVID-19

As we consider our organization an extension of the Chatham School District, the Morris Memorial will follow policy provided by CCSD pertaining to COVID-19.

Closure Policy

If the Chatham School District makes a decision to cancel school due to poor weather conditions, the Morris’s after school program will also be canceled.

If school closes early or after school activities are canceled due to poor weather conditions, the Morris’s after school program will also be canceled.
